Refurbishment and extension of a shopping centre.

Project

To ensure the ongoing activities of Migros in the centre of Lugano, the refurbishment and extension work on the shopping centre required three years and was organised in several phases. Migros is the second largest supermarket chain in Switzerland.

The now modernized headquarters in Lugano is characterized by the following structural elements: the upper floors include a mixed reinforced concrete structure with free spans of up to 9 m and steel pillars, with the staircases and elevator shafts in reinforced concrete serving as stiffening cores. The basements, on the other hand, consist of bi-directionally tensioned floor slabs, external walls of reinforced concrete and steel columns.

The facade scaffolding in Via Pretorio was supported by a special steel construction.
